Is it any wonder why it is difficult for political parties to register voters. Seriously, who would want to be apart of this system?

Am I the only one who thinks it unconscionable that 1 in 5 democrats will not vote for Obama because their gal didn’t win the nomination?

Americablog: Hillary’s email to supporters

I asked in last night’s open thread if Hillary would do her part to unify the party. I think she did that last night, mentioning Obama 12 times in her speech last night. I see emails like this as indicators that Hillary has set the tone that it’s time to come together. It’s now up to Obama to win over the 1 in 5 Clinton voters pre-convention supporting McCain. Rep. Clyburn has been on MSNBC and CNN this morning saying exactly that - and he’s right.

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio - Democratic U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress and a strong critic of the Iraq war, died Wednesday after a brain hemorrhage, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Tubbs Jones, 58, died Wednesday evening of a brain hemorrhage caused by an aneurysm that burst and left her with limited brain function, said Eileen Sheil, a spokeswoman for the Cleveland Clinic, which owns the Huron Hospital in East Cleveland where Tubbs Jones died.

My condolences to her family and friends. I moved here a little over a year ago, it didn’t take long to understand how loved she was here. We have lost a great Representative.

Why can’t the Democrats produce an ad like this? Instead, I see the same tired old-style ads that have me reaching for the remote the instant they start.

Pelosi:

“You know, God bless him, bless his heart, president of the United States, a total failure, losing all credibility with the American people on the economy, on the war, on energy, you name the subject,” Pelosi replied. She then tsk-tsked Bush for “challenging Congress when we are trying to sweep up after his mess over and over and over again.”

I, like most of america, am no fan of President Bush. But Fancy Nancy has a lot of nerve calling anyone a failure considering how little she has accomplished.

Why doesn’t Congress just forego the bullshit legislation and simply give Bushco the checkbook. What a joke Pelosi and company are.

Senate Passes Emergency War Bill:

The Senate has passed an Emergency War Supplemental Spending Bill (H.R. 2642) by a vote of 92 (Y) to 6 (N). The overall bill will provide some $162 billion in funding for war-related activities in Iraq and Afghanistan through the rest of this year and part of 2009. The Senate technically had already passed the war funding portion of the bill earlier this year while this vote focused on the domestic spending provisions.

Those provisions include the initiation of a new GI bill program which is estimated to eventually cost around $52 billion (the Associated Press estimates the 10 year cost at $63 billion). It would provide an essentially free four-year education for returning war veterans to be used at any public state university.

Also included in the package is an extension of unemployment benefits for 13 weeks. The Associated Press estimates the two-year cost of this extension at $12.5 billion. They also note that the extensions are for those whose 26-week benefits have run out. As a concession to President Bush and some Republican members, an individual must work at least 20 weeks at a job before they are eligible to receive any benefits.

Some $2.7 billion in disaster relief funding is also included in the bill along with an estimated $10 billion in foreign aid. Additionally, the bill would include provisions to block 6 out of the 7 newly proposed regulations toward the Medicaid program as offered by President Bush. It was estimated that those regulations would have reduced spending within the program by $10 billion over a five-year period.

Brendan Calling: Vichy Democrats: Complicit

So now you know why impeachment is off the table, and why the telecoms will get immunity. It’s old news, yet no less a vile and disgusting state of affairs, and I encourage all of you to take action and contribute to actblue to run ads targeting these disgusting self-serving sociopaths who have no respect for law or morals or humanity or anything other than their own skins.

Throw the bums out.
