Send Rove to Jail
Wow, Brave New Films just sent me a press release. For a brief moment I felt important. Very brief.
BNF has launched a new campaign to send Karl Rove to jail. Not a bad idea, everyone knows he should be behind bars, at the very least.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
July 17, 2008
LOS ANGELES - Brave New Films has launched a new campaign urging the House Judiciary Committee to file contempt charges against Karl Rove. “Send Rove to Jail” will make its debut during the premier episode of Brave New Foundation’s webcast “Meet the Bloggers” on Friday (7/18) at 1pm EST. See the video here: http://tinyurl.com/6qcowe and learn about Meet the Bloggers here: www.meetthebloggers.org.
The “Send Rove to Jail” campaign follows in the footsteps of Brave New Films’ successful “Lieberman Must Go” campaign, which has been covered by the New York Times, AP, Wall Street Journal, The Hill, The National Journal, NPR, MSNBC, and CNN. Prior to that, another Brave New Films video exposed Sen. McCain’s relationship with the controversial pastor Rev. Rod Parsley, forcing McCain to repudiate the pastor’s endorsement.
Karl Rove’s refusal to testify under oath-regarding his involvement in the prosecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman-is a clear violation of the law. As a private citizen, Rove must obey a Congressional subpoena, and-as made clear by Rep. Artur Davis (D-AL), a member of the House Judiciary Committee-any claim of Executive Privilege is unwarranted. Brave New Films has included a petition on the website stating “We call on the House Judiciary Committee to cite Rove with contempt for failing to comply with a Congressional subpoena. Since Rove regards the law with such contempt, it’s high time the law and Congress hold him in contempt as well. We demand the HJC let Rove know he can’t decide which subpoenas he obeys and which he ignores.”
The video and online petition will be found at www.sendrovetojail.com on Friday morning.
“Meet the Bloggers” is a live, online broadcast devoted to analysis and opinion from the blogosphere, featuring guests such as Sen. Harry Reid, Oliver Stone, Andy Stern, Rachel Maddow, and John Cusack.
Brave New Films has online videos have been viewed over 23 million times and been profiled in the NYTimes (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/29/us/politics/29opposition.html?hp) and the Guardian UK (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/jul/07/digitalmedia.internet).
