Random thought
The 4th amendment died today, not because Obama reversed his position, not because a bunch of turncoat Democrats, not because of cowardly Democrats, not because corrupt Republicans, or most other reasons being posited.
It died today because the majority of americans could not care less about the Constitution. Sad yes, but true.
Ask anyone you know to recite, or just paraphrase the 4th amendment, or any amendment for that matter. 90% of them won’t be able to. The other 10 will get it wrong.
The netroots busted ass to save it, but they are the only ones.
We have failed as a country, failed to educate ourselves on the importance of that document. Failed to carry on the lessons learned that resulted in it’s creation.
It may sound dramatic, but I fear the lessons will stay lost until we experience them a second time on a grand scale.
